How To Condition Leather Furniture

It can sometimes be hard to keep leather furniture looking like new. You have to keep leather away from water, sunlight, greasy foods, scratches, kids with markers, etc. The other difficult thing about leather is that every leather is unique. My leather couch is meant to look worn and show a lot of wear and tear. It's also supposed to have more of a matte finish.

A friend with the same couch as me recently asked if I had any suggestions for making the couch look less worn. And I had the perfect product to suggest. The product is called "Sprayable Leather Cleaner/Conditioner," from Chemical Guys. It's meant for conditioning leather car seats, but it works wonders on leather furniture!

I'll do a future post specific to Chemical Guys, because it is one of my favorite brands. I exclusively use their products for cleaning and protecting my car.

The nice thing about the sprayable leather is that it doesn't make the leather look shiny or greasy like a lot of other leather cleaners and conditioners. This is what my couch looked like before being treated with Sprayable Leather:

As you can tell, it looks very dry. There are even some worn areas where people sit the most. It only took me about 15 minutes to condition the entire couch. And the results are amazing!

To apply the sprayable leather, first spray the conditioner onto a microfiber cloth. Then evenly rub the cloth over the leather. Repeat on areas that look like they need some extra love. Then, using another microfiber rag, buff the leather to remove any excess product and even out the conditioner. And here are the results:

As you can clearly see, the leather looks a lot healthier! The dry, speckled areas are nearly gone. And the worn spot on the far left cushion is gone as well. But, most importantly, the conditioner didn't change the look of the couch! And it's not shiny or greasy.

I'll make sure to do another post for cleaning and protecting wood furniture. As well as a post about how I designed each room of my house. Interior design is one of my favorite things to do. I'm not an expert. But I feel like I can tell when things look good together. So stay tuned for that!

*Disclaimer: every leather is unique. Do not try a new conditioner or cleaning solution without first testing the product on a discrete area of the leather to make sure it doesn't cause any damage. And make sure to follow the directions on the bottle.
